Sea Turtles!

The Suisun Wildlife Center is
excited to present an offering on a terrific subject – sea turtles! A slide
presentation with visual models. Presenter and Board member Lisa Burton has been
on 9 sea turtle research trips from the Caribbean to Central and South America
and the Georgia coast.
Lisa has worked with five of the
eight endangered species of sea turtles. The various projects have included
tagging, nest relocation, egg monitoring, weighing and measuring adults,
hatchling recovery and releases, hatching success rates, patrolling for poachers
and educating beach tour groups.
The slide show begins with the age
of the dinosaurs and the first turtles to evolve. Eight species currently swim
our oceans and each one is described. The sea turtle’s life cycle is discussed
with an emphasis on the problems they face for survival. Conservation solutions
will be touched upon and followed by a question and answer period. Join Lisa
from 7:30 to 9:00 PM for an enlightening and fascinating look at ancient species
that still exist today!
